[CGC] Fw: MDE Hearing - Wharf Landing LLC Condo Project

REMINDER

There will be a Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) hearing on the 
wetlands permit of the Wharf Landing LLC condo project at the Goodwill 
Firehouse on Tuesday, 14 November at 7:00 PM.

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT MEETING AND WE NEED TO HAVE GOOD TURNOUT TO VOICE 
OUR CONCERNS OVER WHAT IS BEING PROPOSED.

 I have attached the hearing notice for the wetlands permit.  The 
application, maps and drawings of the project are on the CGC website, since 
they are too large to send as part of this email.  The application is 
requesting the following:

 1.  Fill/disturb over 10,000 sq ft of wetlands/wetland buffer.

 2.  Mitigate this fill/disturbance with the development of over 8,000 sq ft 
of shrub/scrub wetlands on the two residential lots on the right side of 
Watson Road - an area that is already wetlands.

 3.  Create over 300' of concrete rubble revetment 45' channelward of the 
land on the north side of the property.  This would harden shoreline and 
further restrict the flow of the river in an area where there is little
 flow.

 4.  Create 17 boat slips, two 10' by 30' platforms and 300 feet of 
bulkheading in the river.

 It is hard to comprehend how MDE could approve this permit given that it 
will have significant impact on the headwaters of the Corsica River when the 
State is spending millions of dollars to clean up the river as a model
 project.
