Rt. 213 future is presented to counties
By CRAIG O'DONNELL
...
At Spaniard Neck Road and Northbrook's entrance, a signal is expected. The
developer is responsible for it, Lindsay said, and "they knew that." SHA is
pushing to get the necessary study done so the signal can be in place when
the development reaches the threshold level of 290 units.

Centreville officials have identified pedestrian access through the town;
the potential fix is a "sidewalk retrofit program."

Also, traffic through the town, particularly trucks, is an issue.
Suggestions include a "road audit; bypass; eliminate parking." The dogleg in
Route 304 westbound is another snag. As in Galena, a Community Safety and
Enhancement Program project "was placed on indefinite hold in 2002."

Congestion at Coursevall Drive is expected to result in a traffic light.
Although not on the list, Lindsay commented that "we have a lot of work to
do" at the intersection of Routes 18 and 213 just north of Coursevall Drive.
Congestion from the little bridge over Mill Stream Branch to the Route 301
cloverleaf could result in dualization, Dooley said.

Comfort said that the county and town were working to have "everybody get
all their needs on the table." Simmons closed the session by saying that the
best way to get action is for local jurisdictions to deliver a consistent
message about their top priorities.

Transportation Secretary Robert Flanagan and MDOT functionaries will visit
Kent's commissioners' meeting Oct. 24, at 9:30. They will meet with Queen
Anne's commissioners later that day, at 1 p.m.
