February 14, 2007. Centreville, MD. Last update at 2:55PM. See below. The Town of Centreville has experienced one or more water main breaks on the north side of Town. These have resulted in loss of water pressure to certain parts of Town including Northbrook and other points on the north and northeast sides of town. The Town has issued a boil water advisory for the areas affected - these are to the north of the Corsica Hills Nursing Home and the United Methodist Church along Route 213, and the advisory includes Northbrook and the Centreville Heights, as well as areas in town accessed by Route 305 (Hope Road). See the Boil Water Advisory at left under "Latest Updates". The Town has convened the parties needed to perform the repair work on the broken water main. Given the location and depth of the water main, specialized equipment is required. The permanent repair work will not commence until tomorrow (Feb. 15, 2007). In the meantime, the Town is working to provide an interim solution to provide some service to affected customers in Northbrook. This interim solution may involve using water tankers or pumps to transport water to the tower at Northbrook, which may permit service to certain customers depending on their location. IF YOU RESIDE IN NORTHBROOK, PLEASE RESTRICT WATER USE FOR EMERGENCY NEEDS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Please check back here for updates, which will be posted as we have them.
