[CGC] PUBLIC FORUM ON THE STATUS OF THE CORSICA RIVER RESTORATION PROJECT

The Corsica River Conservancy (CRC) and the Queen Anne's County League of Women Voters (LWV) are sponsoring a Public Forum on the status of the Corsica River Restoration Project on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 7-9 p.m. The Forum will be held in the Board Room at the Board of Education Building on Chesterfield Ave. in Centreville.  Speakers from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Queen Anne's County (QAC) Dept. of Parks and Recreation, the Town of Centreville, and CRC will provide an overview and discuss the status of the Project. Featured speakers include:

  a..  John McCoy, Director, Ecosystem Restoration Center, DNR who will provide an Overview of the Corsica Restoration Project. His presentation will focus on the origins of the project, project goals and current status. To date, over $3.7 million has been committed to the project. 
  b.. Chris Clark, Watershed Manager, Town of Centreville who will provide an update of the new wastewater treatment plant and stormwater treatment capacity, discuss current stormwater design and retrofit plans, and provide an overview of program changes being considered including sustainable development technologies. 
  c.. Gregg Todd, Deputy Director Parks and Recreation, QAC who will discuss QAC projects supporting the restoration. His presentation will focus on two county properties, Bloomfield Farm which lies at the head of the Corsica River watershed, and Conquest Farm, which lies at the confluence of the Corsica and Chester Rivers.
  d.. Frank DiGialleonardo, President, CRC who will discuss opportunities for citizen action and support. His presentation will include a discussion of, CRC's program to engender citizen involvement through education, information sharing, advocating public policies and actions that support restoration goals and create opportunities for hands-on citizen contributions to restoring the Corsica Watershed.
Ample time will be provided for questions from the audience.

Following the meeting there will be a reception with refreshments to welcome Chris Clark, Centreville's new Watershed Manager, as a member of the Corsica Restoration Project Team.
