Town Council Vice-President Mary Roby had a discussion with Richard Lindsay,
District Engineer for the State Highway Administrtion (SHA), following a
meeting with the Queen Anne's County Commissioners on Tuesday February 5th.
She was told that Thomas Hicks, the Director of SHA's Office of Traffic and
Safety, drove around Centreville after the meeting and agreed with her
concerns about speed limits, crosswalks, and traffic flow at Northbrook.
It is expected that the speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph on S. Liberty
Street and that speed limits on MD 213 will be reduced beginning at both
ends of Town, near the entrances to Northbrook and Symphony Village, in the
near future. Also, an engineering study will be initiated to improve
visibility at the entrance to Northbrook and crosswalks would be installed
on S. Liberty Street as well.
The Star-Democrat reported today that a flashing signal should be installed
Northbrook's entrance by September 2008.
